Birthday Party (Project 365/2010)

We attended a birthday party today that was a TON of fun! Dylan's little friend, Cory, from Preschool is turning 5. Cory has a little sister, Kaylin, who is turning 3. Dylan and Cory, along with Peyton and Kaylin, paled around this last school year and having a double birthday party with kiddos the same age as ours, FANTASTIC. Off we went to attend this Carnival themed party, complete with a bounce house/water slide, carnival games, snow cones, water balloons, craft table, and pizza. Dylan and Peyton even got 2 Goldfish. I'm so glad to see other parents throw crazy, all out parties like we do. LMBO I began to think I was a little OVER THE TOP! tee hee

Update: Both Goldfishes have been flushed. :(

Camping Out (Project 365/2010)

Dylan is having a little bit of separation anxiety from Cameron being gone at Camp. The last two mornings we woke up to Dylan's bedroom light being on. Tonight Hubby decided he and Dylan would camp out on the pull out couch. I despise going to bed by myself, let alone sleeping by myself, so I tiptoed out to the living room just now and shot this picture.

Update: Hubby said NEVER again, as Dylan decided to stay up from excitement. hehehe

The Cheesecake Factory (Project 365/2010)

Coupons ROCK! We had coupons for $1.50 a cheesecake slice from The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate National Cheesecake Day. We packed up the kids and headed for lunch. After lunch Dylan ordered a Hot Fudge Sundae and Peyton a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. Hubby ordered Stefanie's Ultimate Red Velvet Cheesecake, while I ordered Godiva® Chocolate Cheesecake. When our waitress brought them our eyes bugged out of our heads. We switched plates, ate a bite of each other's first, and all I can say is OMG! The cherry on top? Our entire bill, for lunch WITH dessert was only $37 and some change.

OOPS! The cheesecake pics were taken on my Aquarium setting, as I forgot to switch it back after Sea World.

Cameron goes to Camp (Project 365/2010)

It is that time of year again ... where Cameron gets to be a normal kid for 2 weeks, and we get a much needed vacation from Type 1 diabetes. Cameron was super excited to have the same camp counselor, Kevin, as he did last year. His cabin mates are all new to him, which means new friends. We were shocked to see the drop in attendance this year. Kevin was telling me that they only have 85 campers this session (Cameron's cabin only has 5 campers), which is at least a 70% drop from last year's session. I can't help but wonder if the economy is a factor. One of the new camper's mother and I were chatting, and she was telling me they (her and her husband) would like to foster parent Type 1 diabetics. God bless them! I had NEVER considered Type 1 fosters and it made my heart smile to think about what a blessing her family would be to a Type 1 diabetic child, who more than likely is being moved around in the foster care system.

I had, however, been giving much thought this year to starting a meet up group for Type 1 diabetics in the IE. There are ZERO support groups here in the desert, and we so desperately need one. These kids need to interact all year long, not just for a week or two every Summer. When I was talking to Hubby about that just now, I even came up with perhaps starting a Non-Profit, where we could then gather donations all year long to help send MORE of these kiddos to camp every year.

Now that I've sent Cameron off to camp, I need to focus on gathering a team (and a team name that ROCKS) and fundraising for this year's jdrf Walk for a Cure 5K (3.2 miles) on October 2nd. We missed last years and this year is a MUST! We need a cure for these kids! Each and every night I pray for the Lord to heal my son's pancreas, followed by the request that Cameron be our only Type 1 diabetic child. A cure is right around the corner, I just know it, I feel it in my bones. Until then, we'll be fundraising and walking. Who is with me?

Magical Memories (Project 365/2010)

We took a trip down to Disneyland to cancel our hotel reservation and return the outfits I bought for our Disneyland 55th Vacation this weekend. I didn't want to go. I know, right? Me not wanting to go to Disneyland? I was just in a funk about having to cancel this weekend. I had decided we would catch Fantasmic while we were there. My family had never sat and caught the entire show before, so we squatted in front of the Rivers of America and waited 40 minutes for the show. While walking out of Disneyland at 11 pm, Peyton was throwing a fit, "I go Disneyland!" I saw Minnie Mouse on Main Street and instructed Mike to get in line. The CM closed the line behind us, despite a few very rude families trying to get in. Peyton was SUPER excited to meet Minnie.

When we were done grabbing our picture moment, the CM's asked if Peyton would like to walk Minnie to the gate to say Goodnight. I walked with so that Peyton would know she can't walk away with a stranger.

Peyton and Minnie took some time to smell Minnie's flowers.

Goodnight Minnie! Thank you for giving our daughter a truly magical memory.

Family Fun (Project 365/2010)

After church this morning, we decided to take a trip down the hill. With Cameron's DKA experience, and the van needing work, our Disneyland 55th Vacation came crashing to a halt. The clothes I bought for us to wear now had to be returned, and the nearest Disney Store is in Ontario. Long story short, they changed their policy, and now Disneyland merchandise has to be returned to Disneyland. We headed over to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. Peyton LOVED watching the waiters/waitresses dance, and even joined in.

We decided to go across the street to Victoria Gardens and let the kiddos see (maybe play) in the fountains. I had NO idea how Peyton would just jump in. She was soaked in under 60 seconds. Dylan, as usual, was timid, but eventually got into it. We had to leave when Peyton's diaper was so water logged that she was showing butt crack. As we didn't have any clothes to change them into, Peyton and Dylan both rode home in diapers (Dylan hated it) and nothing else. You might be a redneck...hehehe. Of course I can't share those pics. ;)

The Last Airbender, Cameron. ;)

Paper Bag Races (Project 365/2010)

The imagination of children never cease to amaze me. After grocery shopping today, Peyton picked up one of the paper bags, and began a sack race in it. Dylan grabbed another one and joined in. This entertained them long enough to get the groceries put away.

Piggies (Project 365/2010)

I patiently wait for Peyton's hair to grow. I have absolutely NO hair skill to offer her, yet I wait. hehehe Today she followed me into the potty, and I had wanted to play with her hair for awhile now, so I sat her on my bathroom counter and began to experiment. She's wearing adult size piggies, but it was all for fun. She LOVED watching herself in the mirror, and the outtakes are HILARIOUS. I think we'll wear piggies for the 4th of July. What do you think?

Rental (Project 365/2010)

As if I didn't have enough to worry about with Cameron in the hospital, the check engine light was on in our van. It came on last Saturday, and we had an appointment for Monday at 1. Well, we missed it, as Cameron was in the ER. I had Hubby change it to Wednesday. Well, we missed it, as Cameron was coming home from the hospital. Today Hubby made it to the dealer, and some work needed to be done, the ignition coil. Fortunately they offered a rental at no charge. Hubby picked a skateboard on wheels Toyota Yaris (guess the 5 of us had no place to go together - LOL). He said he put $8 in the tank and it practically filled it up. I can't remember those days.
